Bad news for your wallet, good news for your wallet, and 89 reasons Apple TV is having a great week. Let's get into it.

Apple's $250M Siri settlement: are you owed money? ๐ฐโ

Your next iPhone might cost $200 more ๐ธ

The iPhone 18 Pro Max will cost significantly more to build, per Counterpoint Research. A global memory shortage has sent NAND and DRAM prices soaring, so much that memory alone could cost Apple nearly as much as the chip, camera, and display of the iPhone 17 Pro Max combined. Add the new 2nm processor, and the bill climbs fast.
Counterpoint expects Apple to pass it on with storage-based price hikes, potentially raising the iPhone 18 series average by around $200, and even then, margins stay under pressure. There's a silver lining though: that pricier Pro Max may also pack a much bigger battery, per a fresh leak.
Remember the smarter Siri Apple promised at WWDC 2024 and then quietly shelved? That delay turned into a class-action lawsuit, and Apple has agreed to a $250 million settlement. A California court held its preliminary approval hearing this week, with claims expected to open in the coming months.
If you bought an iPhone 15 Pro, 15 Pro Max, or any iPhone 16 model in the US between June 10, 2024 and March 29, 2025, you're likely eligible for $25 per device, up to $95 if fewer people file. You don't even need to still own the phone.
Apple TV pulled in 89 nominations at the 78th Primetime Emmys, beating last year's record 81. Pluribus, Slow Horses, and Your Friends and Neighbors are up for Outstanding Drama, while Shrinking, Murderbot, and Margo's Got Money Troubles chase Outstanding Comedy. Widow's Bay grabbed the most nominations of any new series this year.
The star power runs deep: Gary Oldman, Rhea Seehorn, Harrison Ford, Jason Segel, Elle Fanning, and a guest-role nod for Michael J. Fox in Shrinking. Even Bad Bunny's Super Bowl Halftime Show made the list. The ceremony airs September 14.
iOS 27 beta 3 is here, and Siri gets personal ๐ฑ
โ
The headline feature: Siri voice customization finally works. You can now tweak Siri's speaking speed and expressiveness, though the on-device voice model needs an iPhone 17 Pro or iPhone Air. There's also Live Recognition, a new accessibility tool that uses your camera to describe objects and scenes in real time.
Beyond that, beta 3 adds photo rating controls, cellular info in Control Center while on Wi-Fi, a slick new Notification Center wallpaper animation, an AirPods slider to balance Transparency vs Noise Cancellation, and 5G+ support in India. ๐ฎ๐ณ
Lights out and away we go. This week's collection brings hand-picked Formula 1 wallpapers to your iPhone, from cars screaming down the straight in full motion blur to moody night-race shots under the floodlights, all in true 4K and free to download. Whether you bleed Ferrari red or fly Papaya orange, your Lock Screen just found its racing line.
