Apple owns 65% of the premium phone market 📲

Apple took 65% of all premium smartphone sales (phones $600+) in the first half of 2026, per Counterpoint, up from 63% a year ago. The premium segment itself hit a record 29% of all phones sold, as rising memory costs push mid-range buyers toward discounted flagships instead.

Apple and Samsung (19%) now own a combined 84% of the high end. The soft spot remains China, where OPPO grew a staggering 69% and Huawei keeps climbing. But in a global market that shrank 11%, owning the profitable end is the win that counts.

Apple's India sales just topped $10 billion 🇮🇳

For the first time ever, Apple's annual India sales crossed $10 billion in the fiscal year ending March, up from about $9 billion a year earlier, per Bloomberg. iPhones drove the majority, with iPads and MacBooks climbing too, all as Apple widens its retail footprint across the country.

What makes it more impressive: the rupee fell roughly 10% against the dollar over the period, so Apple grew despite an unfavorable exchange rate. Around one in four iPhones are now made in India, though most are exported to the US.

Google Health can finally sync to Apple Health 🩺

Google Health's v5.05 update adds two-way Apple Health syncing on iPhone at last. You can now push Fitbit data, steps, sleep, vitals, and exercise records straight into Apple Health, no third-party workaround needed, closing a gap that's existed since 2014.

One catch for the data nerds: heart rate variability (HRV) doesn't sync, likely because the two apps calculate it differently. The update also brings Smart Health Links in the US, letting you share records with your doctor via a link or QR code.

Copy on your iPhone, paste on Windows, in 2027 📋

Apple has agreed to build a clipboard framework that would let Microsoft sync copy-and-paste between iPhone and Windows PCs, basically Universal Clipboard, but cross-platform. It follows a Microsoft interoperability request in the EU, which Apple confirmed it would honor.

The buzzkill: Apple calls it a significant engineering effort and is targeting fall 2027. Even then, Microsoft still has to build its side. And Apple hasn't said if it'll launch worldwide or stay EU-only. Handy, but more than a year away.

New Apple Home sensors guard your garage and gate 🏡

Abode just launched two Apple Home-compatible sensors: a $34.99 Garage Tilt Sensor that detects when an overhead door swings ~45 degrees, and a weatherproof $49.99 Outdoor Contact Sensor (IP66-rated) for gates, sheds, and mailboxes. Both show open/closed status right in Apple Home.

The catch worth flagging: both require an Abode security system, since Apple Home support runs through the Abode hub. So they're really aimed at folks already in, or buying into, Abode's ecosystem, not standalone HomeKit shoppers.
