Apple's unannounced foldable is already winning, ChatGPT met your Apple Health data, and iPhones might soon work like car leases. Let's get into it. π
Counterpoint forecasts Apple could grab 25% of global foldable shipments in 2026, second only to Samsung's 32%, and just one point ahead of Huawei. Not bad for a phone Apple hasn't even announced. The foldable market itself is expected to grow 21% this year, partly on Apple's arrival.
The full picture is spicier: Samsung's share is forecast to fall from 40%, and that razor-thin Apple vs Huawei gap means the fight for second could go either way. Everything hinges on the foldable actually landing on time, at a price buyers will swallow.
OpenAI is rolling out Health in ChatGPT to US users on web and iOS, across all plans including Free. With your permission, it can pull in your Apple Health data and medical records: medications, lab results, sleep, workouts, and doctor visits, then compare labs across dates and flag what changed.
The privacy print: OpenAI says your health data won't train its models or serve ads, those conversations are excluded from training entirely, and you can use the Health section without connecting anything at all. US-only and 18+ for now.
Claude Code can now build AND test iPhone apps π€
β
Anthropic's Claude Code now plugs directly into Apple's iOS Simulator on macOS: it builds your app, launches it, watches it run, spots bugs, fixes them, and repeats until done, all in a pane beside your conversation. It talks to the Simulator directly, so no Accessibility or Screen Recording permissions needed.
It's in public beta and needs Xcode installed. One heads-up from Anthropic itself: Simulator screenshots go to its servers, so keep personal and production accounts out of test sessions.
Apple may launch Apple Upgrade on July 28: a Klarna-backed leasing program covering iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch, per Bloomberg. Think car lease, not installment plan: 24-month terms for iPhone and Watch, 36 months for Mac and iPad, with upgrade-early, buy-out, or return options at the end.
The fine print matters: it would reportedly replace the current iPhone Upgrade Program, AppleCare+ is no longer bundled, and Apple hasn't revealed rates, buyout prices, or fees. Lower monthly payments don't automatically mean a cheaper device, so run the total math before signing.
Your screen deserves fresh air too. This week's collection brings hand-picked naturewallpapers to your iPhone: misty forests, golden-hour mountains, and calm ocean horizons, all in true 4K and free to download. One glance at your Lock Screen and you're somewhere better than your inbox.
