Hey Geeks ๐Ÿ‘‹

Apple just locked in its September event, the foldable iPhone is getting its own fan-made trailer, and a new Mac mini already shipped. Let's get into it. ๐Ÿ‘‡

In this issue, you'll find:

  • Apple's September 9 event is official ๐Ÿ“…
  • A fan-made foldable iPhone trailer looks real ๐ŸŽฌ
  • iPhone 17 stays the world's #1 phone ๐Ÿ“ˆ
  • New Mac mini launches at $899 ๐Ÿ’ป
  • AirPods 5 may launch alongside the foldable ๐ŸŽง

It's official: Apple's event is September 9 ๐Ÿ“…

Apple has locked in "Surprise and shine," its special event for September 9 at 10:30 PM IST, streaming on Apple.com, the Apple TV app, and YouTube. The invite shows a glowing blue-and-pink logo, and true to form, Apple hasn't named a single product.

The expected lineup: iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and Apple's first foldable iPhone, plus Apple Watch Series 12, Watch Ultra 4, a new Apple TV 4K, HomePod mini 2, and possibly a home hub preview. No standard iPhone 18 this round, that's reportedly saved for spring 2027.

This fan-made foldable trailer looks scarily official ๐ŸŽฌ

Designer Gunho Lee dropped a 65-second concept video imagining Apple's own launch film for the foldable, and it's uncannily close to the real thing. A guy pulls a short, wide iPhone from his pocket, opens it like a book, unlocks with Touch ID, and runs two apps side by side.

It's not a leak, just a fan's take built from months of rumors (dual batteries, A20 Pro chip, passport-like proportions). But with the real event less than two weeks away, it's the closest preview you'll get until Apple takes the stage itself.

iPhone 17 is still the best-selling phone on Earth ๐Ÿ“ˆ

The base iPhone 17 led global smartphone sales for the second straight quarter, taking 6% of all units sold in Q2 2026, ahead of even the 17 Pro Max and 17 Pro, per Counterpoint. Apple and Samsung split all 10 spots in the global top 10.

The kicker: Apple's total sales grew 5% while the overall market shrank 11%, with wins in India, Japan, and the Middle East, and sales nearly doubling in South Korea. Apple now holds 65% of the entire premium smartphone market.

Apple already launched a new Mac mini, starting at $899 ๐Ÿ’ป

Apple quietly refreshed the Mac mini with M6 and M5 Pro chips, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and up to 2x faster storage, its first update in nearly two years. The design hasn't changed, but the M6 model claims 40% faster CPU and 4x the AI performance over the old M4.

The catch: pricing jumped $100 across the board, M6 now starts at $899, M5 Pro at $1,699. Pre-orders are open now, shipping September 22.

AirPods 5 might launch right alongside the foldable ๐ŸŽง

Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reports Apple is prepping two AirPods 5 models for the September 9 event: a standard version and one with active noise cancellation, mirroring how AirPods 4 was split. Current AirPods 4 pricing runs $129 to $179, so expect something similar.

Don't confuse these with the camera-equipped AirPods, that's a separate project now expected in 2027, not this fall. Two different AirPods timelines, running in parallel.
