Apple to Overhaul iPhone in 2026 Anniversary Edition

As the iPhone turns 20 in 2026, Apple is reportedly planning its most ambitious update since the iPhone X. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the company may unveil a foldable iPhone, a complete design overhaul, and a futuristic Pro model made almost entirely of glass.

Foldable iPhone Finally in the Works — Rumors suggest Apple may finally unveil its first foldable iPhone in 2026 — a device designed to meet Apple’s high standards for durability and user experience. While details are still under wraps, expect a sleek form factor that rivals Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold and Flip, but with Apple’s signature polish and innovation.

Glass-First Design Inspired by Jony Ive’s Dream — The 20th-anniversary Pro model might embrace a radical all-glass design — a tribute to Jony Ive’s vision of an iPhone that looks like a “single sheet of glass.” Apple is reportedly working on a seamless body with minimal seams, fewer physical buttons, and possibly under-display Face ID and cameras.

iPhone 17 Air Will Lead the Transition — Before the 2026 shake-up, Apple is expected to introduce the iPhone 17 Air — an ultra-thin, lightweight device that sets the tone for a sleeker lineup. This model is rumored to be the first step toward a new design philosophy that prioritizes elegance, minimalism, and cutting-edge materials.

What to Expect from macOS 16 in 2025

After macOS Sequoia wowed us with iPhone Mirroring and Apple Intelligence, expectations for macOS 16 are sky-high. Apple’s next-gen Mac update could redefine how we interact with our desktops—with design, AI, and performance all getting major upgrades. Here’s what you need to know:

A Bold New Look for macOS - macOS 16 may introduce a dramatic visual overhaul, adopting a cleaner, more immersive design inspired by visionOS—the interface behind Apple Vision Pro. Think glassy translucent windows, layered UI depth, and smoother animations for a more futuristic experience.

Smarter Siri with On-Device Intelligence - Building on Apple Intelligence from Sequoia, macOS 16 could debut a more conversational, context-aware Siri. With LLM integration, improved content awareness, and proactive suggestions, Siri may finally become the intelligent assistant Mac users deserve.

Expected Launch Timeline & Compatibility - macOS 16 is set to be announced at WWDC 2025 (likely June 9), with the developer beta launching the same day. A public beta should follow in late June or July, and the final release is expected in fall 2025. M1-powered Macs and newer will likely support the update, though AI-heavy features may be limited to higher-end chips.

Is Your Apple Watch Compatible with watchOS 12?

With WWDC 2025 just around the corner, Apple is all set to unveil watchOS 12—promising smarter health tracking, AI-driven features, and deeper integration with iOS 19. But before you get excited about blood pressure alerts and energy scores, there’s one question you need answered: Will your Apple Watch support the update?

Say goodbye to watchOS updates on older models - Apple is expected to drop support for the Apple Watch Series 6—just like it phased out Series 4 and 5 last year. If you’re using a Series 6 (launched in 2020), watchOS 11 will likely be your final major update. It might be time to consider upgrading if you want the latest features in 2025.

These Apple Watches will support watchOS 12 - Expected to be compatible: Series 7 through 10, SE (2nd gen), and both Apple Watch Ultra models. Of course, the upcoming Apple Watch Series 11 will ship with watchOS 12 pre-installed.

Key watchOS 12 rollout dates you shouldn’t miss:

  • June 9, 2025: Developer beta drops right after the WWDC keynote
  • July 2025: Public beta becomes available (requires iOS 19 beta on your iPhone)
  • Fall 2025: Final release expected between September and October, alongside new iPhones and iOS 19

Teen iPhone Ownership Continues to Soar

Apple still rules the teen tech scene, but there are some surprising insights in the latest Piper Sandler teen survey.

iPhone is nearly universal among teens - According to Piper Sandler’s Spring 2025 survey, a record-breaking 88% of U.S. teens now own an iPhone, and the same percentage plan to stick with Apple for their next upgrade. That’s a huge leap from 66% just a decade ago, proving the iPhone isn’t just popular—it’s practically a teen essential.

Spotify trumps Apple Music, and Apple TV+ flops - While Apple dominates in smartphones, its services lag behind. 45% of teens pay for Spotify, while just 30% subscribe to Apple Music. Even more striking: less than 1% watch Apple TV+, making it one of the least-used streaming platforms among teens. Netflix and YouTube continue to dominate entertainment time.

VR is still niche—Vision Pro barely registers - 31% of teens own a virtual reality device, mostly Meta’s Oculus. But only 1% have an Apple Vision Pro, likely due to its steep price. Even among VR owners, 60% rarely use their headset, and just 4% say they use it daily—suggesting VR hasn’t become a teen trend… yet.

Apple Grows as PC Market Wavers

According to preliminary data, Mac shipments are up, rivals are stalling, and tariffs loom—Apple’s strategic edge is shining through in a shaky PC market.

Mac sales surge as global PC market stutters - Apple shipped 5.5 million Macs in Q1 2025, climbing from 4.8 million last year—boosting its global PC market share from 8% to 8.7%. This growth outpaces the overall market’s 4.9% rise, driven largely by demand for AI-ready hardware and Apple’s growing reputation in enterprise computing.

Apple Silicon & vertical integration give Apple an edge - As competitors struggle to retrofit AI into legacy systems, Apple’s in-house control of silicon, software, and OS allows for seamless integration of on-device AI and efficient performance. The new M3-powered Macs continue to deliver better battery life and speed, positioning Apple ahead in the AI race.

Tariffs shake up the industry, but Apple holds steady - New U.S. tariffs on Chinese-made PCs are expected to spike prices industry-wide. Apple’s tightly controlled supply chain and efforts to diversify production into India and Vietnam may help soften the blow. Still, 2025’s market volatility remains a challenge even for Apple.

Instagram is (finally) coming to iPad

According to The Information, after 15 long years, Instagram is developing a dedicated iPad app—and it might actually launch this time.

The iPad experience is finally getting a glow-up - Until now, iPad users have had to endure the clunky, zoomed-in iPhone version of Instagram. According to The Information, Instagram is actively working on a native iPad app, aiming to boost engagement and improve usability across Apple’s larger screen.

Why the delay? Priorities, excuses, and missed opportunities - Instagram boss Adam Mosseri famously dismissed the iPad app as a low priority, calling it a “finally feature” alongside dark mode and scheduled posts. But with TikTok’s future uncertain and Meta eager to capitalize, the iPad is back on the table—possibly for good.

No launch date yet—and past promises loom - There’s no official release timeline, and Instagram’s history of broken iPad promises (remember WhatsApp for iPad?) leaves room for skepticism. Still, this could mark a long-overdue turning point for Apple users who’ve been waiting… and waiting.
