🔥 iPhone 16 Pro: Desert Titanium will be the signature color

Apple is known for its signature color every year. Last year, it was Natural Titanium with the iPhone 15 Pro; before that, it was Deep Purple with the iPhone 14 Pro.

Apple is expected to debut a new Desert Titanium color this year, which is anticipated to replace the Blue Titanium colorway from last year.

According to information from tipster Majin Bu on X, the color could be described as a "kind of dark gold" and will be more subdued compared to the iPhone 14 Pro’s Deep Purple.

A couple of months ago, leaks suggested that Apple would be switching back to a polished finish on the iPhone 16 Pro, similar to the stainless steel finishes of the iPhone X and iPhone 14 Pro. These camera lens ring leaks seem to back that up.

If Apple does indeed launch this new color, it could mean that the iPhone 16 Pro might come in Black Titanium, Natural Titanium, White Titanium, Desert Titanium, or whatever Apple decides to call it.

Apple is expected to hold its annual iPhone event early next month—likely September 10.

The iPhone 16 Pro lineup will bring incremental but meaningful upgrades in display size, camera technology, battery life, and connectivity. While there isn’t a single standout feature, the overall improvements should significantly enhance user experience.

  • iPhone 16 Pro: Upgraded to a 6.3-inch display, up from 6.1 inches.
  • iPhone 16 Pro Max: Now features a 6.9-inch display, expanding from 6.7 inches.
  • This marks Apple’s first significant display size increase in five years.

  • Expect improved CPU and GPU performance for more efficient processing and better future-proofing.

  • Positioned below the Side button, it will also support gestures for zooming and focusing.

Upgraded Ultra Wide Camera
:

  • The Ultra Wide camera now boasts a 48MP sensor, an upgrade from the previous 12MP.
  • Enhanced image quality and improved Spatial Video capture.

5x Optical Zoom for Smaller Pro
:

  • The iPhone 16 Pro will feature a 5x optical zoom Telephoto lens, matching the Pro Max for consistent zoom capabilities.

  • 16 Pro: Battery capacity increased to 3,577mAh (up from 3,274mAh).
  • 16 Pro Max: Battery capacity up to 4,676mAh (from 4,422mAh).
  • Enhanced thermal design to mitigate overheating issues.

Connectivity Upgrades
:

  • Support for Wi-Fi 7 and a faster 5G modem for improved connectivity and speeds.

🚨 Apple ID will be renamed ‘Apple Account’ next month

Your Apple ID will be rebranded as an Apple Account starting next month and will apply to all Apple products and services.

Apple's newsroom states that with the releases of iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS Sequoia, and watchOS 11, Apple ID is renamed to Apple Account for a consistent sign-in experience across Apple services and devices and relies on a user's existing credentials.

Other than the name change, there’s no functional change coming to Apple IDs.

Apple IDs are important for accessing highly sensitive and secure data related to your digital life. This is why it's important to be clear on the terminology. Phishing schemes, for example, may seek to capitalize on users' confusion during this change.

It is a welcoming change. However, this rebranding will likely cause some confusion in its early days, which is to be expected for a notable name change like this.

🎙️ Apple Podcasts launches web app

Apple Podcasts is expanding to the web. The new web app version can be accessed at podcasts.apple.com in desktop web browsers, including Safari, Chrome, Edge and Firefox.

With the web app, Apple Podcasts users can access their Up Next queue, library of saved shows, and browse for new podcasts inside their PC web browser. Previously, only MacOS offered a desktop podcast app experience.

I think Apple has made a great move for iPhone users who also use a Windows laptop. Now, they can use the Podcasts app on their iPhone and access their account on their Windows computer using the browser web app.

Apple Podcasts on the web sync with the user's Apple Account (Apple ID), so you can continue listening to the queued episodes of your favorite podcasts, no matter what device you use.

You can try out Apple Podcasts on the web by visiting podcasts.apple.com in your browser. However, if you are on an iPhone or iPad, you will be automatically redirected to the native Podcasts app instead.

🎵 Apple Music 3 Month Free Offer for Limited Time

Apple is offering new users an extended three-month free Apple Music trial over the summer, provided they haven't subscribed to the streaming service before.

‌Apple Music‌ typically offers a one-month free trial for new subscribers since it was shortened from three months in 2022, so this deal is worth grabbing if you are curious about the service.

Engadget spotted the offer, which is running until September 23. After the trial ends, the service will automatically renew for $11 per month, so it's a good idea to set a reminder in case you don't want to continue paying for access.

Note that this offer is for new subscribers only. If you are not currently a subscriber to Apple Music, and you have never previously subscribed to Apple Music or Apple One or had access to Apple Music through a Family plan, you are eligible for this offer.

To redeem the offer, open the Apple Music app on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac and sign in with your Apple ID. If the offer doesn't appear immediately after launching the app, go to the Home tab, where it will appear, then tap Accept Now.

🎧 AirPods Max 2 is coming soon

Apple’s big lineup for this fall is nearly ready for launch, and AirPods Max 2 will likely appear. Here’s what to expect from the new AirPods Max 2:

AirPods Max 2 is expected to receive a new chip, likely the H2 found in the current AirPods Pro 2.

This H2 chip will enable AirPods Max users to experience:

  • Adaptive Audio, which dynamically blends Transparency and Noise Cancellation modes in response to your environment.
  • Conversation Awareness, which automatically lowers volume and isolates voices in response to detected speaking.
  • Personalized Volume, which adjusts the volume of media in response to your environment

Additionally, iOS 18 with the H2 will bring the following features to AirPods Max 2:

  • The ability to nod or shake your head to respond to Siri.
  • Voice Isolation when you’re on a call.
  • Gaming-specific enhancements to Personalized Spatial Audio with dynamic head tracking

AirPods Max 2 will replace the existing Lightning port, adopt USB-C for charging, and be available in a variety of new color options.

At least, I want Apple to replace the Smart Case with a better, hopefully more protective case.
