📲 US government wants iPhone to turn into Android 🤦🏻

Hey Geeks! Dhvanesh here, your friendly neighborhood Apple enthusiast and editor-in-chief of iGeeksBlog+.

Last week, there was much talk about Apple being sued by the US government. Some folks say Apple has a monopoly, but I disagree. It's like turning the iPhone into Android.

Here's the thing: there are tons of other options out there. Android phones, different headphones, smartwatches from other brands – you name it! No one's forcing you to buy Apple.

But you know what? A ton of people (like me!) have had amazing experiences with Apple products. I've been rocking an iPhone since the iPhone 4, and it's just been fantastic. Plus, their stuff, like AirPods and Apple Watch, makes everything work together seamlessly.

Let's be honest, who else makes computers that last for years like Apple? They're reliable, and that's important!

The bottom line? Buy what works for you. If you love Apple, that's awesome! If not, there's a whole world of tech out there. The important thing is you have a choice, and no one's making you pick Apple.

What do you think? Feel free to share your genuine opinion by replying to this email 📧. I would appreciate your feedback.

💡 3 Things To Know This Week

📜 Apple’s new Manuals, Specs, and Downloads page is a great resource link

  • Apple has introduced a new "Documentation" page on its website, aimed at helping users easily access manuals, guides, and specifications for their Apple products.
  • This centralized page gathers all relevant information in one place, streamlining the process for users who previously had to navigate through multiple web pages.
  • You can search by product category, such as Mac, iPhone, iPad, AirPods, and more, or use the search field for specific inquiries.

🤖 AI is coming to the iPhone–and it could change everything link

  • Apple is set to make a big push into AI technology with its platform updates this year, confirmed by CEO Tim Cook. While Apple has spent years deploying machine learning technology, the industry’s focus is now on generative AI.
  • There are questions about how Apple will bring these technologies into its existing operating systems, particularly in Siri, which may finally get a 2.0 version that can reliably understand user requests and handle two instructions at once.
  • Apple may be able to leverage interaction with users’ data stores through its Neural Engine but may also need cloud-based technologies for more horsepower.

🔥 New iPad Pro could be available in a new matte screen option link

  • A new rumor suggests that the new iPad Pro models will be available in both matte and glossy screen options, similar to how the Apple Studio Display and Pro Display XDR are offered. The rumor comes from the Weibo account Instant Digital, which claims that the matte version will feature a "haze value" of 29%, plus or minus 4%.
  • However, the source of the claim is not clear and should be taken with some skepticism. The new iPad Pro models are expected to feature OLED displays, the M3 chip, a thinner design, and a new Magic Keyboard accessory.

⚙️ 3 Hacks You Should Try This Week

🗣️ How to use iPhone’s awesome new text-to-speech feature link

  • The iPhone's built-in text-to-speech feature called Live Speech was introduced in iOS 17. Users can even create their own digital voice called Personal Voice, which is particularly useful for those who may lose their ability to speak.
  • Let's take a look at step-by-step guide on how to set up and use Live Speech and Personal Voice in the iPhone's Accessibility settings. Additionally, the article directs readers to other accessibility features in the iPhone.

💬 How to schedule text messages on iPhone link

  • If you struggle to send texts on time, this guide can help you schedule messages on your iPhone. While there isn't an official way to schedule iMessages, using the Shortcuts app allows you to set up custom workflows for scheduling texts.
  • You can create and edit these automated messages and recipients, ensuring timely communication without the recipient knowing it was scheduled.
  • Remember, if your iPhone is off or offline at the scheduled time, the message won’t be sent until it’s back online.

🗂️🔓 Automatically Toggle iPhone Orientation Lock for Specific Apps link

  • Let's take a look at how to make iOS automatically toggle the iPhone Orientation Lock for certain apps. Certain apps, such as YouTube or the Photos app, work better with Orientation Lock disabled but switching it on and off manually can be inconvenient.
  • The solution is to create a personal automation in the Shortcuts app that will enable and disable Orientation Lock for specific apps automatically.

📲 3 Apps You Should Download This Week

1️⃣ Spill-App link

  • Named after the expression “spill the tea,” this inclusive social network puts a bold visual spin on online conversation.
  • What you may love is a few words, still images, GIFs, and videos, all of which blend beautifully in each post (known as a Spill). Browse the Spillboard for hashtags to find trending conversations you might want to join. Or tap the teacups on the upper left to RSVP for Tea Parties—virtual, real-time conversations on Settlers of Catan, trending movies, and more.
  • A quick tip is to add a funny comment or share context for an image you come across. Tap the quote icon, then tap Flip. (“Flipping” is the app’s version of reposting.)

2️⃣ Structured - Daily Planner link

  • Staying organised when you’re busy can feel overwhelming at times. Structured break your day down into short, manageable tasks to help you stay on schedule and (re-)establish a daily routine.
  • What we love: How the app balances a packed schedule with the right amount of pauses. For that, Structuredanalyses how much free time you have between two tasks and lets you know when the best moments are to take short breaks.
  • Unlock the app’s pro version to speed up your planning. You’ll be able to automatically import tasks from Reminders and use iCloud to sync your assignments across devices.

3️⃣ Train Station 2: Steam Empire link

  • Adored trains as a kid? Train Station 2 will rekindle your love of riding – and re-creating – the rails. Construct a bustling station, then use beautifully modelled trains from all over the world to gather resources and complete contracts. All aboard!
  • What you may love is the trains! With literally hundreds to unlock, there’s always a new engine waiting. Direct a Shay Class C train to deliver iron and collect coal, or double your capacity with a retired classic such as the Erie L-1. Find one you love? Upgrade it to keep it in service. No train graveyards for these diesels!
  • Not sure which engine to buy? High-capacity trains are especially useful in the early-game regions, which are replete with raw materials.
