After years of speculation, Apple’s first foldable iPhone is finally in development—with a limited release expected in late 2026. Here’s everything we know so far about this next-gen device and what makes Apple’s approach different. Development Starts Late 2025, Launch in 2026 - Apple is expected to begin formal development of the foldable iPhone with Foxconn by Q4 2025. While several components—like the hinge mechanism—are still being finalized, a cautious rollout is planned for late 2026, likely starting in select markets. Samsung Display to Supply Foldable Screens - Apple has reportedly tapped Samsung Display to produce 7–8 million foldable OLED panels annually for the iPhone Fold. However, initial production will be limited, and total shipments over 2–3 years are estimated at 15–20 million units. Premium Product, Slow Rollout Strategy - Like the Vision Pro, the foldable iPhone is positioned as a high-end niche product. Mass production is set for the second half of 2026, but Apple is expected to ramp up slowly—prioritizing design perfection and user experience over rushing to market. 👉 For full details, visit iGeeksBlog
Why Apple Refuses to Turn the iPad Into a Mac
Despite M-series chips and Mac-like features in iPadOS 26, Apple remains firm: the iPad will not run macOS. Apple’s software chief Craig Federighi explains why merging the two would compromise both. "No Sporks": Apple’s Design Philosophy - Craig Federighi compares merging macOS and iPadOS to creating a spork—something that’s neither a great spoon nor a great fork. Apple wants the iPad and Mac to remain distinct, each optimized for its purpose: touch-first simplicity vs. keyboard-and-mouse precision. iPadOS 26 Brings Mac-Like Features—But Stays iPad - iPadOS 26 introduces full windowing, a new multitasking engine, and Mac-style minimize/maximize controls. But Apple carefully avoids compromising the iPad’s immersive, touch-first experience. It’s about power and simplicity coexisting—not converging. Merging OSes Would Dilute Both - According to Federighi, combining macOS and iPadOS would make both less useful. The iPad thrives because the Mac exists—and vice versa. Apple believes letting each device evolve separately, while borrowing the best ideas, creates better experiences. 👉 For the full story, head to iGeeksBlog
iOS 26 Now Lets You Transfer eSIM to Android
Apple has finally made switching between iPhone and Android smoother than ever. With iOS 26, you can transfer your eSIM profile cross-platform—no carrier calls, QR code hassles, or manual setup. Native Cross-Platform eSIM Transfer - A new “Transfer to Android” toggle in iOS 26’s Cellular settings lets you move your eSIM to an Android phone in just a few taps. This removes the friction of contacting carriers and waiting for manual activation—making platform switching effortless. Easy eSIM Setup from Android to iPhone Too - iOS 26 also adds a “Transfer from Android” option, allowing Android devices to share a QR code that iPhones can scan during setup. It’s a coordinated move that reflects improved Apple-Google cooperation, mirrored in Android 16 beta support. Freedom to Switch Ecosystems—No Strings Attached - Whether you’re switching for customization or smarter AI features like Apple Intelligence, iOS 26 empowers users to move freely without eSIM restrictions. It’s a major step toward user-first, platform-agnostic tech. 👉 For a full step-by-step guide and device compatibility, visit iGeeksBlog
Ads Are Coming to WhatsApp
WhatsApp is no longer the ad-free zone it once was. Meta has started rolling out Status and Channel ads, marking a major shift in how you’ll experience the app moving forward. Where You’ll See Ads Now - Ads won’t show up in your personal or group chats—yet. Instead, you’ll find them in the Status section (similar to Instagram Stories) and WhatsApp Channels, where some are now labeled as “Sponsored.” These areas are more public-facing, making them Meta’s first targets for ad placement. How Ads Will Look and Work - Status ads will be full-screen and swipeable, while Sponsored Channels will blend into your feed with clear “sponsored” tags. Meta aims to make ads feel seamless, without disrupting your browsing—though the experience may still feel jarring to longtime users. What This Means for Your Privacy - Meta says ads will be “as private as possible,” using basic info like your city, language, and channels you follow. But if you’ve linked WhatsApp with Meta’s Account Center, your Facebook and Instagram data may also shape your ad feed. Visit iGeeksBlog for a full breakdown
