1. AirPods are more than wireless earbuds When AirPods first launched, they wowed us with their truly wireless design. Now, they’ve evolved into much more than just earbuds. Each model enhances our auditory experience, allowing us to amplify a podcast, tune into conversations, or block out noise—all tailored to fit any moment. Discover a soundscape that adapts to your life! Moreover, they provide an entirely different kind of 'augmented reality' experience. Augmented reality transforms how we perceive the world, seamlessly blending technology with our senses to enhance our experiences.
AirPods embody this vision with a range of remarkable features: Active Noise Cancellation acts like a sonic shield, identifying environmental sounds and gently filtering them away so you can focus on what truly matters. Transparency Mode creates an illusion of openness, allowing you to hear your surroundings as if nothing were in your ears—keeping you in tune with the world while you enjoy your audio. Adaptive Audio masterfully combines these elements, crafting a dynamic sound experience that intuitively adjusts to your environment, ensuring every moment is perfectly tuned to your needs. But that’s just the beginning of the magic. Conversation Awareness acts like a personal assistant, lowering your music while amplifying nearby voices to ensure you’re always in the loop. With Voice Isolation, now in iOS 18, your calls are crystal clear, cutting through the noise of any environment for an intimate, connected experience. This foundation has made three new hearing health features possible that will soon be exclusive to AirPods Pro 2 users.
Hearing Protection acts as a guardian for your ears, shielding you from dangerously loud environments and ensuring your auditory safety.
Media Assist crafts a personalized hearing profile just for you, using the Apple Hearing Test to tailor your audio experience to your unique ears.
And Hearing Aid Support empowers users to connect with the world more clearly, enhancing their natural hearing and helping them overcome any challenges they may face.
While Apple doesn't label AirPods as AR devices, their features hint at a new kind of augmented reality that engages our ears as much as our eyes. Imagine sound transforming our experiences, creating an immersive auditory landscape. With AirPods, the future of sound is just starting to unfold.

Apple's latest high-end iPhones, the 16 Pro and 15 Pro, feature a sleek titanium frame. But what’s the best way to keep them clean? Whether your device is brand new or has been used for a while, here’s a short but precise guide to cleaning your titanium iPhone with essential dos and don'ts. Note: Apple mentions that "oil from your skin might temporarily alter the color" of the titanium band. If you’re using your iPhone without a case, simply wipe it down with a damp microfiber cloth to fix this. Cleaning DON’Ts:
No cleaning sprays: Avoid bleach and hydrogen peroxide.
Don’t submerge your iPhone: Keep it away from cleaning products.
No compressed air: This can cause damage.
Unplug your iPhone: Always clean it without cables connected.
Power off your iPhone and unplug it from any accessories.
Wipe it down with a clean microfiber cloth, and slightly damp it with water if needed.
Slightly dampen your clothes with water if needed.
Apple says a slightly damp cloth will remove fingerprints and slight discoloration on the titanium frame of the iPhone 16 Pro or 15 Pro.
Disinfect your iPhone with a Clorox wipe or 70% isopropyl/ethyl alcohol on your cloth.
For tough spots, gently use a flosser pick—avoid pressing too hard on the grilles or mics.
Use Blu Tack to remove dirt from speaker grilles, etc.
Apple also advises cleaning your iPhone immediately if it comes into contact with substances that could stain it, such as dirt, ink, or lotions. Keep your device looking its best!
3. Apple Intelligence will push more iPhone 16 upgrades A recent survey of U.S. teens shows that iPhone ownership remains remarkably high. Although the current rate of teens upgrading to the iPhone 16 is stable, Apple Intelligence suggests we can expect an uptick in new purchases soon. Piper Sandler's 48th semi-annual Gen Z survey, involving 13,515 teens across 47 states, found that 87% own an iPhone, reflecting its strong popularity among this group. This trend aligns with previous years as iPhone ownership continues to thrive. Where things get interesting, though, is the survey’s findings around planned iPhone 16 upgrades.
22% plan to upgrade to an iPhone 16 soon
this is slightly down from the 23% for iPhone 15 last year
which was down from 24% for iPhone 14 in 2022
But there’s more to the story. Notably, 30% of respondents plan to upgrade their iPhones in the next six months, driven by anticipated features from Apple Intelligence. While interest in the iPhone 16's current features is consistent with past models, new AI capabilities are expected to boost upgrades. The iPhone 16 currently lacks Apple Intelligence features, but the first set will debut later this month. With iOS 18.2 expected to bring Genmoji, Image Playground, and ChatGPT integration in December, a fresh wave of upgrades, especially among teens, is likely.

4. Apple's shift to staggered releases may boost innovation and unpredictability
According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple is gradually shifting from its traditional annual hardware and software release schedule to a staggered approach. This change was evident with the recent iOS 18 and macOS Sequoia launches, which debuted without key features like Apple Intelligence. Instead, those features will roll out in updates starting with iOS 18.1 in October and continue through 2025.
Gurman notes that while Apple may still maintain its annual iPhone releases, it seems to be holding back updates on other products, as seen with the lack of a new Apple Watch SE this year. The company plans to release new Macs and iPads throughout 2025 rather than tying them to specific events. This staggered release strategy could lead to greater innovation by allowing Apple to launch products when ready, making the company less predictable.
5. iPod Nano and iPod Shuffle Models Are Now Obsolete
In 2015, Apple introduced new color options for the 7th generation iPod Nano and 4th generation iPod Shuffle, but these models are now officially considered obsolete, following their complete discontinuation in 2017.
A device becomes "obsolete" seven years after Apple last sold it, meaning it can no longer be repaired at Apple Stores or Authorized Service Providers—though MacBook battery replacements are available for up to ten years.
Apple has also added the iPhone 6 to its list of obsolete products. While the larger iPhone 6 Plus was classified as obsolete back in April, the smaller iPhone 6 lingered in select resellers until now.
Additionally, the 2017 model of the 12-inch MacBook and the 6th generation iPad have been designated as "vintage." A device is considered vintage after five years of being discontinued, and while repairs may still be offered, that depends on the availability of parts.
6. Amazon will sell Apple TV+ subscriptions through Prime Video Starting later this month, Prime Video subscribers can add Apple TV+ to their plans. While details of the partnership remain unclear, Apple likely sees this as a way to reach more viewers. Eddy Cue, quoted in the press release from Amazon, says:
"We want to make Apple TV+ and its award-winning library of series and films from the world’s greatest storytellers available to as many viewers as possible,” said Eddy Cue, Apple’s SVP of Services. “We’re thrilled that Prime Video will now offer Apple TV+, giving viewers an incredible breadth of viewing options."
This deal doesn’t expand Apple TV+'s availability—it's already accessible wherever Prime Video is—but it may simplify the subscription process for potential users. Many mistakenly believe you need an Apple TV device to access Apple TV+, but it’s available on most smart TVs, set-top boxes, and gaming consoles via the Apple TV app.
Subscribing through Amazon also enhances the app experience on Android, though Apple could achieve better control by launching the Apple TV app there. Apple TV+ costs $9.99/month through either platform, while Prime Video subscriptions range from $8.99 to $17.98/month.
